Some of the earliest settlers of Scott County arrived in the late stages of the 18th century; approximately in
the neighborhood of 1778. They cultivated and established their farmland around the New River and its
tributaries. The beautiful area we all know and love as Scott County was known as North Carolina then.
Today, Scott County has much more to offer; such as, Twin Arches, Big South Fork National River and
Recreation Area, Leatherwood Ford, Historic Scott County jail, and Angel Falls overlook just to name a few!

the region. Many guests will recognize the name and want to check it off
their list.
• Quick access point near you: Burnt Mill Bridge River Access is one of the
common “gateway” areas for swimming holes/hikes on the southern end.
CHEROKEE CAVERNS (KNOXVILLE, TN

A classic cave experience—cool temps year-round, underground formations,
guided tour vibes. Great “bad weather” option or a break from riding for
mixed-age groups.
OZONE FALLS (CRAB ORCHARD/
ROCKWOOD AREA)
One of Tennessee’s most iconic roadside waterfalls—massive drop, dramatic
rock amphitheater, and a quick way to get “big payoff” views without
spending all day hiking. Great for photos. (Use caution near wet rock/edges.)
DEVIL’S RACE TRACK TRAIL
(CARYVILLE, TN / COVE LAKE
AREA)
A popular hike known for a scenic overlook and a rugged
“adventure” feel. It’s in the Caryville/Cove Lake area (near I-

corridor or want waterfalls + views.
HISTORIC RUGBY (RUGBY, TN)
A beautifully preserved Victorian-era historic village—quiet,
charming, and totally different energy than trail riding. Think
