Some of the earliest settlers of Scott County arrived in the late stages of the 18th
century; approximately in the neighborhood of 1778. They cultivated and
established their farmland around the New River and its tributaries. The beautiful
area we all know and love as Scott County was known as North Carolina then.
Today, Scott County has much more to offer with local history & attractions; such
as, Twin Arches, Big South Fork National River and Recreation Area, Leatherwood
Ford, Historic Scott County jail, and Angel Falls overlook just to name a few!
Scott county is a truly beautiful place that has trails located all around leading for
hundreds of miles. The trails here extend all throughout Tennessee and even
Kentucky. There is an immense variety of trail systems ranging from intermediate to
extremely difficult. Full Throttle Campground, located at 12155 Brimstone Rd, is at
the back end of some impeccable trailheads, but is the prime starting point for your
next adventure. Be sure to grab a friend and bring your camera because the beauty
these mountains have to offer is unlike any other! See y’all soon!
